Eleven communities across Surrey and the Lower Mainland
Kinship is Surrey-owned, and our caregivers live in the communities they visit. That is why we can often start the same day.
Surrey
Surrey is home for us. Kinship is Surrey-owned and Surrey-run, and most of our caregivers live within a few minutes of the families they visit — which is exactly why we can often start the same day when a call comes in.
Cloverdale
Cloverdale sits inside Surrey's boundaries but has never really behaved like a suburb of it — it has its own town centre, its own fairgrounds, and a good number of families who have been on the same street for forty years.
White Rock
White Rock has one of the oldest populations in Metro Vancouver, and a great many people here have deliberately chosen to stay in a home with a view of the water rather than move inland to be closer to family.
Langley
Langley covers a lot of ground — the City is compact and walkable, while the Township runs from Walnut Grove out to Aldergrove and takes in a good deal of farmland on the way.
Delta
Delta is three distinct communities that happen to share a municipal government — North Delta, Ladner and Tsawwassen — and a family in one rarely thinks of themselves as living in the same place as a family in another.
Coquitlam
Coquitlam climbs. Between Maillardville down by the river and Burke Mountain up top there is a serious amount of elevation, and a driveway that was fine at seventy can be a genuine obstacle at eighty-five.
New Westminster
The oldest city in the province, and it shows in the housing: character homes in Queens Park with a lot of stairs, and towers along the Quay where a good number of residents have downsized from exactly those houses.
Burnaby
Burnaby is the most linguistically varied city we work in, and for a lot of the families who call us, the first question is not about services at all — it is whether we can send someone who speaks their parent's first language.
Richmond
Richmond is flat, which sounds like a small thing until walking becomes difficult, and it has a large number of seniors living in the same house as their adult children — which changes what families here actually ask us for.
Maple Ridge
Maple Ridge is the most spread-out place we serve. Properties are larger, neighbours are further off, and a good number of clients are on land they have farmed or gardened for decades and have no intention of leaving.
Abbotsford
Abbotsford is the furthest east we go, and it is a city with a genuinely rural half. A family on a berry farm out past Bradner is in a different situation from one in a Clearbrook townhouse, even though both have the same city on the envelope.
